How it works

One sharpening day a week

No appointments, no waiting in. Get your tools in by the cutoff and they come back sharp the same week.

1

Drop off

Put your tools in the drop-off bin at my house in Newbury by Sunday 4pm. Tie a tag on with your name. Then send a quick WhatsApp so I know they're there.

2

Sharpened

Sunday evening and Monday morning, everything in the bin gets done as one batch. If something needs a repair, you get a price by WhatsApp before any work starts.

3

Collect

From Tuesday midday your tools are back in the bin with the edges guarded. You get a WhatsApp with the total and bank details. Pay, then collect.

Hand tools only. No mowers, strimmers or anything with an engine. If it's bigger than a spade, send a photo first.

Prices

From £8 a tool

Sharpening is £8 per tool, whatever it is. Simple repairs up to £50, always quoted first.

A tool is one item: a pair of secateurs counts as one, a pair of shears counts as one. Anything not on the list, send a photo and ask.

Straight answers

The drop-off bin is at my house in Newbury. Tools in the bin are at your own risk until I've picked them up, and again from the moment they go back in for collection. Tag everything with your name. Don't leave cash in the bin.

Where the bin is and how it opens comes by WhatsApp once you've booked in.

Every tool is photographed when I pick it up, so existing chips, cracks, rust and wobbly handles are on record. Sharpening removes metal. A badly pitted or previously over-ground edge will come back sharp but won't come back new.

If something isn't worth sharpening, I'll tell you rather than take your money.

Bank transfer, details by WhatsApp with your total. Tools go back in the bin once payment has landed.

Tools not collected within four weeks of being ready will be treated as abandoned.

Everything comes back with the edge guarded, taped or sheathed. It's sharper than when it went in. Treat it that way.

The sharpening day is fixed so the work gets done in one go. The days may change, and the page will always show the current ones. Nothing is done outside the batch, however small.
